Websites
The web is a constantly evolving phenomenon, and a good website should aim to take advantage of the available technologies.
Websites today are also becoming more dynamic and interactive, which can provide a wide scope for tailoring a site to it's
intended audience.
The Design Process, Starfish Software style
The website design process begins with a prototype design that is put together fairly quickly. This enables a flow of ideas
between the client and the website designer. Once a general 'angle' has been established a temporary site is created where
the client can view progress at any stage. The site is then built up in the temporary location where the client is free to
comment on or provide direction for further development.
A new feature of the design process is a comment box at the base of each page where the client can leave comments or suggestions.
This provides a convenient means by which the client can provide feedback while in full view of the site. Furthermore, a record
is kept of changes requested and actions taken.
Content Management
There are various ways in which content can be managed, ranging from a complete development package where the client builds
their own website to a professionally designed site where the client has easy access to modify the content they need.
With Starfish Software you have the option of specifying which content you would like to be able to maintain, thus giving you
the benefits of both a professionally designed site and the ability to update it whenever you want.
Content Managed elements can include:
- News/Headlines/Announcements
- Photo Gallery
- Positions Vacant
- Lists (eg. pricelist, menu, procedures, etc)
...or just about any other purpose you can think of where the format of the data remains the same yet the content changes.
E-Commerce
There are many options available out there to provide an e-commerce solution, however if you can't find one that suits then
Starfish Software can build a shopping cart solution tailored to your requirements. Give Graeme a call if you want to discuss
an e-commerce solution.
Large-scale projects
If you have a large-scale website to maintain then Starfish Software can help by building components to fit in with surrounding
elements. Want to have a news feed appear in a certain part of the site, or an advertising banner to fit just in the right spot?
All this and more is possible, just call Graeme to discuss your requirements.
You might have noticed the two live feeds on the homepage of this site:- the weather forecast and technology news feed. Both
these elements take live feeds from other sites and have been customised to fit in this site. RSS feeds are a great way to
provide current and relevant information as an extra for your site visitors.
